Community Allowance Pilot ProgrammeIf you think that the DWP's work for your benefits proposals are unspeakable, here is a healthy alternative. The CREATE consortium would like to hear from community organisations from across the UK that are interested in being part of the Community Allowance pilot programme. The consortium have developed a simple online form which is available here for organisations to complete by 12th December. This will enable them to shape their bid to DWP. Applicants will automatically be added to the list of organisations interested in piloting the Community Allowance. All potential pilot partners will be contacted in early 2009. The Community Allowance pilot programme would enable a range of unemployed people on any benefit to undertake part time work that strengthens their neighbourhood without it affecting their benefit status (including Housing and Council Tax Benefit and other passport benefits like free school meals and prescriptions). The pilot programme would last for 18 months, with participants registered on the Community Allowance for a maximum of 52 weeks at a time.
